First aid on the water brings different challenges. A casualty may be exposed to cold, help may take longer to arrive, and the people on board may need to manage the situation until professional assistance is available.

Vital Signs Scotland’s Marine First Aid training is designed for boat owners, skippers, crew, marine professionals and others responsible for safety on or around the water. Our practical courses help learners build the knowledge and confidence to respond to injuries and medical emergencies in a marine setting.

This category is being developed to include Marine First Aid Levels 1, 2, 3 and 4 (VTQ)™, with options for individual learners and dedicated group training. Course content and duration vary by level, so each listing will explain what it covers and who it suits.

Marine First Aid Level 3 (VTQ)™ is currently available to book. It is a practical one-day course covering casualty assessment, CPR and AED use, serious injuries, medical emergencies, drowning and immersion, hypothermia, and obtaining medical support at sea.
