Understanding Course Qualifications and Certification

Vital Signs Scotland primarily offers regulated RQF qualifications, alongside selected SCQF qualifications and ProTrainings VTQ courses. Each course description identifies the qualification, level and certification route available, helping learners choose training suited to their workplace or professional requirements.

  • Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF)
    The RQF is the framework used for our main range of regulated qualifications. Each course description states the qualification title and RQF level. Visit Ofqual’s explanation to learn how the framework works.
  • Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF)
    Vital Signs Scotland also offers selected qualifications on the SCQF. The framework describes Scottish qualification levels and credit points; it is a qualifications framework, rather than an awarding organisation.
  • Training Qualifications UK (TQUK)
    Information from the awarding organisation for TQUK qualifications listed in our course descriptions.
  • First Aid Awards (FAA)
    Information about FAA qualifications, including first aid and mental health first aid.
