Marine First Aid Level 3 (VTQ)™ – Group Training

Practical marine first aid training for your crew or team for groups of up to 12 learners, delivered at your venue or ours.

When an emergency happens on or around the water, medical help may take time to arrive. Your team may need to assess a casualty, provide immediate care and monitor their condition while assistance or evacuation is arranged.

This dedicated Marine First Aid Level 3 (VTQ)™ group course develops those skills through instructor-led training, hands-on practice and scenarios relevant to boating, marine and watersports activities. Training can take place at your suitable premises or at our Bathgate training venue.

Who is this group course for?

It is suitable for sailing clubs, watersports providers, marine businesses, activity organisations and other teams responsible for people on or around the water. Participants may include skippers, crew, instructors, boat owners and marine leisure staff.

What will your team learn?

• Assessing a casualty and managing an emergency safely
• CPR, AED use, choking and care of an unresponsive casualty
• Controlling serious bleeding and recognising shock
• Responding to fractures, head and suspected spinal injuries, burns and scalds
• Recognising medical emergencies, including heart attacks, strokes, seizures, asthma and anaphylaxis
• Managing drowning, immersion, hypothermia and other cold-related emergencies
• Requesting medical advice and supporting casualty evacuation

Practical exercises can reflect your team’s activities, equipment and emergency arrangements. The course considers the challenges of limited space, cold and wet conditions, and delayed access to professional care.

Course details

Duration: One classroom day with 7 guided learning hours, plus breaks.

Delivery: A dedicated course at your suitable venue or our Bathgate training venue, by arrangement.

Assessment: Practical and knowledge assessment during the course.

Certification: Successful learners receive a ProTrainings Marine First Aid Level 3 (VTQ)™ certificate. The qualification is CPD certified.
