Marine First Aid Level 4 (VTQ)™ – Two-Day Classroom Course

Advanced, practical first aid training for demanding marine environments.

When a serious injury or medical emergency occurs far from shore, professional help may take time to arrive. Those on board may need to assess a casualty, provide immediate care and monitor their condition while medical advice or evacuation is arranged.

This two-day, instructor-led classroom course is designed for experienced skippers, crew, marine professionals and others who want to develop their ability to respond to complex emergencies in remote or challenging marine settings. Hands-on practice and realistic scenarios help learners apply their knowledge and make decisions under pressure.

What Does the Course Cover?

• Casualty assessment and ongoing care when help is delayed
• CPR and responding to drowning and immersion incidents
• Catastrophic bleeding, including tourniquets and haemostatic agents
• Recognition and first aid management of shock
• Serious head, neck, chest and spinal injuries
• Fractures and dislocations
• Hypothermia, frostbite and heat-related illness
• Heart attacks, strokes, anaphylaxis and other medical emergencies
• Burns, scalds and chemical exposure
• Planning continued casualty care and evacuation

Course Details

Duration: Two classroom days.

Format: In-person training with practical exercises and assessment.

Location: Our Bathgate training venue. Dates and joining details will be confirmed when a course is scheduled.
