This in-house group option enables organisations to arrange Scottish Emergency First Aid at Work (SCQF Level 6) training exclusively for their own staff, delivered by Vital Signs Scotland at the client's premises.
The one-day course develops the essential knowledge, practical skills and confidence employees need to respond effectively to a workplace first aid emergency until professional medical assistance is available.
Training is delivered in accordance with the Resuscitation Council UK (RCUK) 2025 Guidelines and current workplace first aid requirements, with a strong emphasis on practical competence and confident emergency response.
Designed for workplace groups
In-house Emergency First Aid at Work training is an efficient and cost-effective option for Scottish employers who need to train several members of staff at the same time.
Rather than sending employees individually to external courses, we bring the instructor and training equipment to your workplace. This reduces travel and disruption while allowing practical exercises and discussion to take account of your organisation's working environment, identified risks and emergency arrangements.
The appropriate number and level of workplace first aiders should be determined through your organisation's first aid needs assessment.

Delegates develop and demonstrate essential emergency first aid skills, including:
- Role and responsibilities of the workplace first aider
- Assessing an emergency situation safely
- Primary survey and casualty assessment
- Adult Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Practical use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
- Management of an unresponsive casualty
- Recovery position and ongoing monitoring
- Choking
- External and severe bleeding
- Recognition and management of shock
- Minor injuries and workplace incidents
- Summoning appropriate emergency assistance
The course has a strong hands-on practical emphasis, with delegates using appropriate training equipment and participating in practical first aid exercises.
Scottish regulated qualification
Successful delegates achieve a regulated Emergency First Aid at Work qualification at SCQF Level 6.

The SCQF route can be particularly useful for Scottish employers, schools, colleges, public and third-sector organisations and funded training programmes where an SCQF qualification is required or preferred.
Course duration and assessment
The course is delivered over one day and combines instructor-led learning with practical skills development and assessment.
Delegates are assessed through practical demonstration and knowledge assessment. Practical competence is an essential part of the qualification, and learners must successfully demonstrate the required emergency first aid skills to achieve certification.
In-house course delivery
This group course is delivered on demand at the client's premises, allowing your employees to train together at a date agreed with your organisation.
A suitable training room with sufficient space for delegates to participate safely in practical exercises, including floor-based CPR and casualty-management activities, is required.
On-site delivery can also provide opportunities to relate first aid exercises and discussion to your organisation's own workplace and emergency arrangements.

Certification
Successful learners receive certification for Emergency First Aid at Work at SCQF Level 6.
Annual first aid skills and knowledge refreshers are recommended to help workplace first aiders maintain competence and confidence between formal renewal courses.
SCQF, RQF or VTQ?
Vital Signs Scotland offers Emergency First Aid at Work through several certification routes.
This group course leads specifically to an SCQF Level 6 qualification and is particularly relevant to organisations operating within the Scottish qualifications framework.
We also offer the TQUK Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (RQF) and ProTrainings Emergency First Aid at Work Level 3 (VTQ).
