Sports First Responder Level 3 (VTQ)™
5-Day Practical Classroom Course
The Sports First Responder Level 3 (VTQ)™ is an advanced, practical first responder course designed for people who may be required to provide immediate emergency care in sporting environments before ambulance or other professional medical assistance arrives.
Delivered over five classroom days, the course goes beyond conventional sports first aid by developing a comprehensive range of first responder assessment, life-support and trauma-management skills. It is particularly suited to those providing pitchside or mobile first aid where injuries and medical emergencies may require a more advanced and structured response.
The course combines underpinning knowledge with extensive hands-on practical training and realistic scenarios, helping learners develop the confidence and capability to assess casualties, identify priorities and provide appropriate immediate care.

The Sports First Responder Level 3 (VTQ)™ is particularly suitable for:

More Than Sports First Aid
The Sports First Responder Level 3 (VTQ)™ provides a substantially broader level of emergency-response training than a conventional Sports First Aid course.
It is designed for situations where the responder may need to undertake a more detailed casualty assessment, manage potentially serious injury or illness and provide appropriate immediate care while awaiting the arrival of the emergency services.
This makes the qualification particularly valuable for organisations seeking to develop a stronger pitchside or sporting emergency response capability.
Practical, Scenario-Based Training
Effective first responder training requires more than theoretical knowledge.
The five-day classroom programme places a strong emphasis on hands-on skills, practical application, casualty assessment, decision-making and realistic emergency scenarios. Learners have opportunities to practise responding to situations relevant to sport and physical activity while developing a systematic approach to casualty management.
The aim is to develop not simply knowledge, but the confidence and practical capability to respond effectively when a serious injury or medical emergency occurs.
