Course Description

The First Aid for Mental Health Leading – FAA Level 6 Scotland Award is an advanced regulated qualification designed for those with greater responsibility for supporting and leading mental health and wellbeing within the workplace.

The course provides an in-depth understanding of a wide range of mental health conditions, their signs and symptoms, and the professional support that may be available. It incorporates the content covered within the earlier First Aid for Mental Health qualifications and develops this further for those operating at supervisory, managerial, trainer or assessor level.

Distance Learning Format

The qualification is delivered remotely over three days, comprising two days of live training followed by individual assessment on the third day.

Days 1 and 2 consist of the taught course, providing the required minimum 12 contact hours of training.

Day 3 is reserved for individual professional discussions. Each learner attends a pre-arranged Zoom appointment of approximately 45–60 minutes to complete their assessment. Learners therefore do not need to remain online for the whole of the third day.

To ensure sufficient time for each professional discussion and maintain the quality of the assessment process, courses run with a minimum of 4 and maximum of 6 learners.

Course manuals will be provided electronically unless a hard copy is requested at the time of booking. Where a printed manual is requested, an additional charge will apply for printing, postage and packaging.

Certificates will be issued digitally following successful completion of the qualification. If a printed certificate is required, this can be requested for an additional charge to cover postage and packaging.

Minimum 4 learners | Maximum 6 learners

Annual refresher training is strongly recommended. The full qualification must be completed again to requalify for a further three years.
